Police have arrested a 51-year-old Saugeen First Nation man after a man allegedly fired gun shots at another man before barricading himself inside his house Tuesday morning.

More than a dozen police officers surrounded Mike Solomon’s house on French Bay Road shortly after 8 o’clock this morning after receiving a call from another man that Solomon had retreated to his residence after firing shots at him.

“This is one of the most serious occurrences that we can have — our immediate response is to attend the scene and provide containment,” said Staff Sgt. Brad Fishleigh.

Several members of the OPP emergency response team (ERT) were en route from as far a way as London when Solomon indirectly surrendered himself when he came out to check his mail two hours later.

“I believe he knew we were there,” said Fishleigh.

“He was arrested without incident, he did not have a firearm on his possession and he was taken into custody for questioning.”

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
