Woman pleads guilty to casino bomb threat

COEUR d’ALENE — Sinead Shrae Ambro, 18, Plummer, entered a guilty plea in federal court on Friday to a charge of maliciously conveying false information, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The charges stem from a false 911 call made on July 15, 2008. During the call, an unidentified female falsely told the 911 dispatcher that five bombs had been placed in the Coeur d’Alene Casino and would explode in 20 minutes.

Ambro allegedly made the threatening call from the Benewah Market in Plummer.

As a result of the call, the Coeur D’Alene Casino was evacuated and closed for several hours. No explosives were found. The casino was reopened after being cleared by authorities who brought in bomb-sniffing dogs from Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington.

After a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Coeur D’Alene Tribal Police, Ambro was charged and arrested.

Even though the Coeur D’Alene Tribal Police Department was unable to obtain fingerprints from the pay phone, they received several other leads that led to the arrest.

Sentencing is set for May 11 before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge in Coeur D’Alene.
